Section 1 Coaching Policy/Exceptions for the 2022 Fall and 2023 Spring Seasons
Now that the impact of COVID-19 has been reduced, AYSO is back to requiring the full age appropriate certification for our various coaching levels. There are also additional requirements from AYSO (SafeSport) and the State of California (LiveScan Fingerprinting) for volunteers who are interacting with children. Please see the matrix which details the requirements for each coaching level.
Due to the limited amount of in person training over the past two years, AYSO Section 1 has two important exceptions we will put in place for the 2022 Fall and 2023 Spring Seasons. These exceptions are made to allow those coaches who completed the 12U Online Coaching certification or Intermediate Online Coaching certification and who coached last year and are in good standing with their region to be able to "upgrade" to the next level of coach certification for this Fall or Spring season.
2022 Exceptions | | | |
Scenario | Path Forward | | |
12U Online Only Coach wants to coach at Intermediate Level | RCA/ACA to create 12U In-Person Roster and add coach candidate to course and close course. Once complete, candidate can then sign up to take the full Intermediate License (Online and In-Person) |
Intermediate Online Only Coach wants to coach at Advanced Level | RCA/ACA/Advanced Coach Instructor to create the Intermediate In-Person Roster and add coach candidate to course and close course. Once complete, candidate can then sign up to take the full Advanced License (Online and In-Person) |
Thank you for helping AYSO Section 1 reach 100% compliance with these coach certifications and safety requirements. Our ultimate goal is to keep our players safe! And thank you all for your hard work through some very trying times over the past couple of years to make sure our kids get a chance to play the beautiful game of soccer!
Best,
Mike Riley
